It’s the little things...

Rory Sutherland once said, the biggest change of customer experience for train passengers was not faster trains but rather informing them as to when the next train would arrive.

This is inspiring for the team at Wrksense as we see the importance of candidate experience being a problem being solved in the wrong way.

A leading recruitment firm once acknowledged that the phone lines were always inundated due to candidates calling regarding “an Update”. Here lies the real problem worth solving.

Recruitment is a lot about managing expectations. Candidate and clients alike. You see it is a supply and demand process. I once had a client send over a job description and the recruitment manager responded to the list of never-ending skills with “While I am at it, I’ll get them to use their time machine to attend the interview”. And likewise, the infamous graduate who read that graduate salaries are hitting 6 figures these days, only to wonder why they haven’t been called back by any agency in the country after 6 months. Yeah yeah, I know, of course there are outliers but you get the point.

Clients are buying the best talent that they can afford and the candidates are accepting the best offers that they can secure. It makes sense but in the middle is a talent broker who has to work really hard with both sides to make more placements happen than you can imagine.

Wrksense goal is to make the process smoother by sharing the responsibility. We’re flexible enough to let candidates write up their profile or clients quickly assess and schedule candidates, no more middle man pushing paper but instead, focus on creating even more magic out of nothing. You guessed it, we’re biased but we also love recruiters. Rarely has anyone taken a job against their will and I’ve seen more thank you cards land into a staffing firm than bad google reviews. Case in point, it’s a capacity issue not ignorance.

So back to the trains, if candidates understand what is happening behind the scenes, less calls to recruiters or even worse those derailing emails, ‘Did you hear back?” and the recruiter, keen to save the client's rep, thinks of a creative way to make this a positive. By giving the candidate more information, the better the candidate will feel about the process.

Hiring takes time, we get it. If everyone has a copy of the timetable, we save a lot of missed opportunities and Wrksense has this in built. Know when you’d like to be hired and work backwards.

Don’t believe us, get in touch. Trial it with one client and watch as candidates appreciate a transparent process. Speaking of transparent process, keep an eye out for our upcoming blog on interview feedback.
